DVD RW for back up

Hi - I'm going through too many C D's backing up my songs. My computer DVD can record although I've never tried it. I went on line to look for recordable DVD's & see there is quite a bit to choose from - different sizes etc. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Match what your drive can do.

No sense getting 8x or 16x disks if your DVDR can only do 4x.

Look in the specs for your box.

great response - thanks. I hate to be dense but, where do I find the DVD spex? I checked the device manager & also the D drive properties & all I see is: Sony DVD+RW DW-Q58A?

It looks like you've got a dual layer burner there, which is great news, as you can burn DVD's with up to 8.5 gigs of data on them.

ps - I'm not finding any 8.5 gig DVD's? 4.5 is about all I've seen so far. Do they make them?

I think the 8.5's are dual layer only. Have you been searching for dual layer?

I think your DVD burner will also do single layer, so it should work with the 4.5's you've found so far.
