I tend to worry about dust gathering on & in my audio interface (firebox). I like having it out and ready to roll at all times rather then tucked away in a drawer. Also I don't really want to keep a cover on it because its fired up when the computer is attending to other tasks and needs to vent heat.

What do some of you others do with various gear in this regard?

The general rule is that the cleaner the environment, the better it is for quality and durability of equipment. The reality fo rmost is that dust is everpresent. Like you, I like to have my stuff ready to go at an instant, which means I run, and accept, the risk of dust or damp messing around with things. Fortunately, neither have caused me any grief, and a feather duster works a treat.

Compressed Air. Not for speakers or mics, of course, but fine for most other stuff. Take that, ozone layer!

Buy a small portable air compressor. Use it to top up your tires, too.
