I have done this before by hooking up the outs of my dj mixer into the mic input of my pc and was using an adaptec easy cd creator 4. the only thing I didn't like is the fact that to close the cd that you just burned, it takes about half of your actual recording time. For ex., if I recorded 70 min.,the software takes about 35 min. to close it.I eventually gave up on it and bought myself a stand alone cd recorder, and have never looked back. The stand alone cd recorders and blank music cds nowadays are so cheap. I recommend the new pionner cd changer/cd recorder combo for your purpose. I got mine from a wholesale club locally-BJ's and have been very satisfied with it.good luck.

Are you compileing your own music that you have written/composed or makeing a compilation CD of other artists? Either way why is it so important not to save this as a file other then the size of it with harddrives as large as they are today is a 700 mb music file too large for your system?

First of all, turn off your CAPS LOCK. It is considered SCREAMING.

OK, :D

Go OUT of your DJ MIXER, IN to your computers SOUNDCARD. Use the LINE IN, not the MIC IN.

You should record into an EDITOR PROGRAM, like Sound Forge, Cool Edit Pro, etc...

Save the MIX as a WAV. file, then import it into your CD burner program.

It'll burn the CD at the highest speed of your BURNER, which will definitely be more than 2X. ;)

is it possible to burn a cd on an external recorder then transfer my music to wav files on the computer for storage.

I suppose so, don't know why you'd really want to do that unless you already had an external burner, but if you had a cd of your set or any cd for that matter you can rip the files off of the cd and onto your PC within your burning software, actually I guess that depends on what software you gots, err yeah!
