Duophonic mixing

Everybody will probably think I'm a bit mad but does anybody have any idea how I can achieve a 'duophonic' mix. As far as I can work out, it involves a mono mix being made then one speaker being slightly out of sync with the other. Am I right? Could someone explain how a duphonic mix can be made? I'm using Audacity

I want to achieve the 60s sound of mono to stereo. Also does anybody know how to do that frequency rechanneling?

That sounds like the Hass effect. Which states that two speakers can be the X distance appart and one can be louder than the other but by using time delay on the louder speaker the softer one will seem louder because it reaches your ear first. You can also use it in reverse to make the sound seem to come from another point to focus ones attention that direction. I use this a lot when setting delays under balconies so the small under balcony speaker does not seem to be in your face and the sound appears to come from the main cluster.
