dumping parasites

Okay, I've got Adaware, and it's good getting rid of stuff that insinuates itself into the operation of the machine, but there's some stuff that's managed to embed itself so well that Adaware doesn't touch it. There's stuff that I disable using msconfig, but it just keeps cropping up. Is there a fix that you know of, or is the only way to deal with it to format the whole drive and reinstall everything?

Spybot Search & Destroy 1.2 is a better product.

bgavin - you probably know this already, but spybot does a way better job than ad-aware. Spybot found stuff that ad-aware didn't find, including a worm.*

Thanks for the tip - it was a good one.

* This translated into better perfomance on playback of various audio files.

I use spybot as well, and it is really good.
