leaving aside issues of whether this is the optimum way to mix (it isn't), due to space and other constraints I'm wondering whether I can run the line out from my Boss BR-8, into the powered speakers (such as Altec Lansing ATP3s) to use as a mixing guide? assuming I have the right adapters/connectors, will that work? I may still have to move the BR-8 into the room where my good speakers are to hear a higher quality mix but this may be an intermediate step...

thanks,
Jon

If those powered monitors have a line level input and your mixer has a line level output, you're off to the races.

thanks, that's what I thought: the BR-8 has line out jacks (RCA)... the speakers' instruction spec sheet shows it (subwoofer) running from computer's audio output, which should be line level, no (i.e. this means the speaker takes a line level input)?

thx.,
jc

I had a friend that did exactly what you're doing. Except he had horrible Yamaha monitors. Thought I would mention that just for the sake of mentioning.

Thanks for mentioning that.... you can probably tell that I'm trying (due to space and $ considerations) to go with something less than a ~$400+ set of monitors. A friend has used the Altecs on his PC and mixes down with it, and said they work well, so for $79 I'll try it.

thanks,
Jon
