I would like to get into recording.I had done so years ago through 4 track cassette recorders. I am
leaning towards getting the Boss Br-900CD
digital 8 track recorder. I have a Marshall 100 dfx amp. with a headphone output that is supposed to
sound like its coming through a speaker. My question
is can I run a line out from my headphone out to
the Guitar line in on a digital recorder. any help
would be appreciated. thanks

hi lamont, i'd put a 57 in front of your cabinet and play with that :D

honestly , for me recording via headphone outputs was alwas a bit disapointing, you don't get the fat sound of your expensive speakers,
but it will probably sound a bit cleaner

now....if u use the headphone output, then put that in a normal LINE input,
not in a guitar input,
put your guitar in a guitar input, line in line,

its all about difference in impedance and stuff, but i'm not real good in explaining that...

doesn't your amp have, headphones out, but also Direct out or "Recording compensated " ?
give them all a try i'd say,
but i prefer using mics

A second vote for micing the cabinet instead of trying any DI --- it just plain sounds better.

Unless you have a strict prohibition against volume...
