at the risk of suffering the slings and arrows that we, the closet ignorant ones, must sometimes endure ;) ...

if I mix down a "32 bit" wave file in CEP, is it possible to "master" it in Wavelab as is, or must it be dithered down to 16?

I've tried, but so far have not been able to work with anything in (the version I have on my pc) Wavelab unless it is 16 bits. Is there a way via settings/options to accomplish this?

Many thanks to anybody who can help...

Wavelab can handle 24 bit files. I don't use Cool Edit, so I don't know, but if there is a way for CEP to record at 24 bit, you could then open the file with Wavelab and process before dithering down to 16 bits.

thanks Rev E

for the reply. I'm not sure if CEP can do 24 but I'll be looking into it. I'm not sure if the 32(floating???)is only beneficial within CEP or recognized elsewhere as well.
I'm thinking if all else fails, I'll mix down to 16, use wavelab to discover what order and which plugins to utilize and then apply the same to a 32 mix in CEP...oh well.
Thanks again!
