My songs are being spoiled by dull drone-y vocals (mine). Anyone got any tips about how I can remedy this? For instance, I have quite a deep voice so have been cutting EQ heavily at lower frequencies. Now I'm wondering if this is counterproductive and I'm removing all the energy?

Not really......if you like throwing out all the fruit from a fruit salad.

Remedies? Vocal lessons. Try out a couple different mics. Vocal lessons. Some compression. Vocal lessons. Auto tune. Vocal lessions. Reverb. Oh ya...and some vocal lessions.

Are you from Nottinghamshire or The Black Country?

Sorry. I couldn't resist :p

Dude, you must pay a visit to the Event forum.

That's kind of unofficially the vocal forum, now.

Do people in Leicester even have an accent? Gary Lineker-alikes? :)

I'll check out the Event forum.

The answer: A couple of pints, a bullhorn or distortion pedal, and all the Fall albums you can get your hands on.

1. Try different mic positioning.
2. Try a different mic.
3. Try a different mic pre.
4. Don't get too close to mic when you're singing.
