Im wondering...I have a dr 660...kinda useless no manual...I also have a SB 16 soundcard...is there a way I can utilize the drum machine as a midi controller to utilize a VST...say RM III drums, in n'track? (reason for using the boss drum machine is so i dont have to buy a keyboard RIGHT NOW)

Sorry your question isn't being answered!

I would answer that it's theoretically possible. Is it possible with n-Track alone? I'm not sure on that one.

I know fruity loops has an "internal controllers" plugin interface by which you can use MIDI controllers and such to automate effect parameters.

Technically anything is possible if you can bind a MIDI control to a parameter. Whether n-Track supports this directly I'm not sure (I know it has fader automation of course...and does have effect parameter automation via envelopes...).

Let me know if you find anything out.

is that 754 gadfreakinzillion?

hehe I appreciate the reply, at this point i wasnt expecting it thinking, oh yeah that was probably a dumbass newbie question...well so far i have gotten some results actually, Im not entirely sure how I got it to make sounds, but eventually enough clicking it did happen. What I do know is I plugged it all in, went into n-track, clicked the the mic button on the toolbar, selected the midi input device in the preferences; Track>Midi>new vst instrument, (hmm it just dawned i could run the midi back into my amp so i can hear it teehee the light bulbs are going on in my head)...and some other stuff...unfortunately, ever since my n track has become fubarred :D so I cant actually remmeber what i did next, but it most assuredly wasnt a simple process.
I had to select a different channel I believe somwhere in it too, and something with the piano roll...sorry its been a couple days...I remember before the great cataclysmic crash, the cpu meter was at something like ... ohhh ... 7543290584208401587265907426897205483.00%...totally in the red hehe...ever since then its always like that on the cpu load and crashes, Im not sure what ive done, but it really doesnt like me, i shall keep you posted though, once im able to actually break it down and give a concise step by step form as to how i got it working, kinda on this mission to make old crappy stuff work.
I actually had a fruity loops at one point, but maybe because i didnt read up on how to integrate it with ntrack, i couldnt get it too work. I might still have it and itd be fun too use, my problem was everytime id import one of those fruity files into ntrack, it would add a space at the beginning of the file, synching was a pain playing live to it i remember so i gave it up hehe.
ps I also bought a set of drums cause i was annoyed, so ive been busy on those as well, I think they sound far better than the dr 660;) (and possibly those vsts,)
