I've read a few threads here and there regarding this idea, but none of them had much information. I was curious if it was possible to run (for example) two M-Audio PCI Delta 410s in tandem? Using both cards at the same time, mostly for playback purposes, or am I a retard? :D

I've just been reading on another fo.... and they linked to the place on M-Audio's site where it talks about this, it is possible to sync two PCI cards of the Delta series together, apparently there is a sync function in the control panel. I emailed M-Audio CS with the question, hopefully they will shed some light on the situation. The other fo.... was saying that you needed to sync the S/PDIF out of one card to the S/PDIF in of the other but then they corrected and said that using winxp this step isn't necessary because XP can sync them on its own. I'll keep you posted on my progress if you like. Would still like to hear from people who have actually done this though.

Thanks!

Cant say anything about the 410 but I do have two M-audio Audiophile 24/96's running together and they work fine, and you dont have to worry about SPDIF sync the kernel sync in XP will do it for you!

First hand experience here running a Delta 1010 and two Delta 410 PCI's 12in/24out to feed my mixer.

The 410's are a bit harder to come by now and although you won't find any support for them on the M-Audio website they use the exact same driver as ALL the Delta cards so future support isn't an issue.

For what it's worth, they do a decent enough job for playback but I've never used the 2 analog inputs on either of my 410s....never needed to with having 8 balanced ones on the 1010. The S/PDIF inputs sound exactly the same as the 1010 S/PDIF as it's not a convertor, just a signal pass through.

What else can I tell you......

The 410's are -10Db which worked ok for me because my mixer is set internaly (Soundtracs Topaz Project 8) to -10, so I just pushed the buttons in the back of my 1010 to -10 and everything was set.

Never had a problem with them and as you may have read in some older posts with the Delta cards you need to daisy chain them using the S/PDIF ins & outs.....that was to solve an old driver issue under win XP/2000, that problem is fixed. Just set them all to multiple card sync and the master clock to InternalXtal and you're set to go

Any questions fire away. I've been using my setup happily for about 2 years now

Lemon, I'm planning to add a 1010lt to go with my 1010. I need more than 10 simulateous tracks for some live recording I'm going to do. Do you think I'll get by?

I'm running under XP, P4, I think I can record more than 20 tracks at a time computer-wise, just wondering if the M-Audio hardware can do it.

I doubt you'll have any problem with that whatsoever. I hardly see any processor increase with my P4, whether I'm recording 1 track or 8 tracks.

Since my first post in here I actualy did track a band and used the inputs on the 410s so I was using the 8 analog ins on the 1010 and 2 analog ins on each of the 410s and the S/PDIF input of one of the 410s had a Behringer V-Amp hooked to it too, so...14 tracks and it all went into the box with minnimum fuss.

As m-audio said, two delta cards running simultaneously in one system is totally possible. its just like having two soundcards in general.

I've heard it over and over from M-Audio especially, that it's totally possible. What I have only heard a couple of times is that someone has actually done it , with success. :D

I think in the past, it was issues with win 98, and other OS's, now with XP everyone says the bugs are worked out, so I'm gonna go for it. I see a couple 1010lt going for under $100 today on an auction site.

Worse case, I can use the 1010lt on my other machine. :)

I have 2 Delta Cards running on my PC (XP Pro, AMD Athlon 64) with no trouble. Works like a charm, and all inputs show up in cubase.

I am happy to report that after much tweakage I have succesfully installed my new 1010LT with my existing 1010, and they are both working. For now. It remains to be seen how well it will do when I try and record 16 tracks at the same time, with live musicians.

Funny how all the trouble never starts until everybody's waiting on YOU!

If u have two 2496's in ur system for example, whats the primary use for it? for more ins/outs?
