PC load letter?
my motherboard has onbaord video, and it'll support using the onboard video plus another agp card for dual monitors (i have xp pro). I have the two monitors set up and working with one weird exception. The second monitor, which happens to be an lcd, is in black and white, but not really, if that makes sense. For example, right now as i type, everything is black and white except for the internet explorer icon in the bottom left of the screen. And when I first start it up, there will be some color, but within a few seconds it will go black and white with certain small exceptions.

Weird. Any suggestions

Eric

hmmm...

hard to see what may cause the problem.

The LCD is on the onboard our AGP vdo card? If its on the onboard vdo, maybe you have to update the bios.

If its on the agp, be sure to have the latest XP drivers installed.
If you switch your monitors, same results?

uh..this may sound stupid, but have you checked if the vdo settings arent in 8 bits?

I have 3 monitors on my PC, 2 x19" CRT and a 15" LCD. The LCD is in an old pci ATI Rage 8 meg. I had to tried a few drivers before everything works fine. Win XP Pro.

actuallly about the 8 bit thing, they are in 32, but I tried 16 and I get abosolutely nothing, the lcd is on the agp card, but im thinking that its so old it might have some problems with lcd screens. Its just so weird that certain little icons show up in color

all right, switching the monitors does nothing

also, what kind of video card are you using. THis set up is by no means permanent for me, i just wanted to see if I liked dual monitors, and if I do, i get a higher end dual monitor card, plus ill still have the onboard if i ever want a set up like yours

The agp card is an ASUS Geforce 4 Ti 4400 (128mb).
The pci card is a ATI Rage 3d (8mb)

I dont have any problem with those.

I'll suggest you to try a dual monitor card and bypass your onboard vdo card. hat do you think?

I'm sure you can get an ATI 7500 or even a 8500 for a few bucks on ebay! :)

Im thinking my video card is just dying, its a velocity 128, 4 mb i believe. O, It was a bitchin card, when i got it with my gateway in 1997, lol. But even in black and white dual monitors seems great. I just have to get used to remembering that its there so i can use it.
