i can do that too, the 19's are like $30 extra. i know a lot of ppl with dual 17's, and working at my partners studio we use dual 17's... i can do dual 19's... i might need it running SX and Nuedno with over 48tracks...
i'm waiting on my copy of cubase Sx
I would go with dual monitors. Cakewalk and most studio software looks awesome across two desktops. More and more video cards support dual heads, though I am disappointed Matrox dumped their quad head card. I happen to have one on my studio PC and even though its not the latest and greatest, for studio work (not games or video work) its awesome. And inexpensive on auction places as well.
I only have two monitors because 18.1" LCD monitors are still two expensive. I bought two and another recorder rather than four monitors.
I prefer LCD because our guitarist can sit behind the console and play without picking up disgusting monitor hum. Bzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
I'm sure it's expensive as hell, but Matrox's new card has three heads, so you can use any three monitors you want, not just the crazy panoramic thing.
my monitor now doesn't bzzzzz...but i'm gonna either go with 2 17's or 2 19's... i run nuendo and i usually run over 32 track per song so 2 19's would work perfect...
i should be running Cubase SX with in a week or 2
