I use the DSPF w/ one DS2416 card. and one AX44 module. I have PRO Audio 9 that evidently supports the use of second 2416 card. But, I'm not finding any information on how it affects the ActiveX mixer within Cakewalk. I have to believe that the additional card gives you 2 additional banks of effects and it would have to add channels (sends and returns) to the mixer, right? And, I'm guessing that one of the cards becomes the master for output functions-for powered monitors, etc. Am I on track here-are there any other features or problems that I need to know about?

I guess I am just wanting to know what I can expect before adding the second card.

Thanks for your help...

I have no idea how Pro Audio 9 works. But I do have dual 2416s and this is how it works in other software:

Logic Platinum can only handle one card at once. It ignores the other one.

Cubase VST/32 gives you a new and separate mixer to handle the cards. This gets complicated because channels in the usual VST mixer are routed to channels on the DSP mixer. So tracing signal I/O can fry your brain, till you get used to it. On the other hand you do get access to all four FX processors, two extra sends, and 32 DSP mixer channels with all the usual goodies.

In ACID, I use something called LUI. LUI used to be distributed by the Cakewalk people but it seems to have disappeared off the face of the Internet now. LUI was free, and it was *the best* tool for controlling the DSP Factory. It's basically a mini mixer app - very simple, very easy to use. If you can find it, use it.

As for Pro Audio 9 - I would talk to Cakewalk *before you buy the card.* Get them to explain in detail how the system works. I wouldn't touch it without that. The big problem with the DSP Factory cards is that Yamaha never got good product support happening for them, so while they're great 16-bit cards, they don't slot in software products as neatly as they should.

Hope that helps.
