Hi
I am fascinated by the sound of Fugazi's guitars - on many of their albums they sound very dry, but lively and upfront sound. Tho the sound of the guitars is overdriven, the recording is clean and not ostensibly lo-fi - at the same time it's very warm.
Does anyone have any tips about how to achieve this sound?
I read they used SM57s, a reel to reel and an 8 track.
I was wondering whether the guitar sound would be achieved well with vintage dynamics such as beyers as they are warm and thick?
Examples of songs I particularly like the sound of are:
Fugazi - Merchandise - YouTube
Fugazi - 3 - Argument - Epic Problem - YouTube
