Drumset in car

Awkward question but i need a new car and i don't want to get another truck because going from school and home is just burning gas. So im leaning towards a 4 cly. Now has anyone tried to fit a drum set(4piece) with hardware in a honda civic hatchback?

thanks for the help on such a weird question

Lol. I can fit my 6 pc and tons of hardware in a Camry, so you can probably squeeze a 4 pc into a Civic.

yes I've fit a 6 piece kit.. (22in bass, 14in snare, 14inch tom, 8 inch tom, 6 inch tom, 14 inch floor tom, 3 crashes [14,16,18], one ride [20], a china [big one] and a 14in hi hat) with a rack in my car with also a small PA and a couple guitars. It was in a Mercury Sable GS but a Honda Civic is about the same size I think you should be able to do it. Only problem is fitting the groupies back there too... I would assume.. :o

okay thanks for the help you guys.

i just would hate to purchase a car and go to pack for a gig and realize ill have to play with out any cymbals or anything

I have a short Dodge Caravan that has a 4 cylinder engine and I am getting 27 mpg. I remove the back seats for most of the time and have them stored in my storage room. I can fit a ton of things in the cargo area, a full 6 piece kit with all of my cymbals, hand drums, two speaker cabs and my sound system (including a cot to sleep on, when I get to a gig early)I lash things up so they don't slide around and I have everything to one side allowing just enough space for my cot and cooler. That's the way to go. It beats paying for gas for a regular sized van. Windows are darkest allowed by law so the "nasties" can' see in/
I proudly drive a minivan.

I had a old (like 1989) Honda Accord and packed a 5 pc Yamaha kit with a full rack. Floor monitor and even the small board for the PA. And yes I could get another person in the car too.

Normally, when I buy a new vehicle, I take one from the lot for a test drive (even if I plan to order from the factory). I drive it home and carefully load my drum kit in - or at least enough to convince me that everything can fit (the kick drum, cases for hardware, etc.).

One time, the salesguy would not let me take the car out alone, so he had to come with me and watch while I packed in gear (he did not look happy - but he did have to earn his commision:D)

My last couple of vehicles have been SUVs (so space has not been an issue) but due to the cost of fuel the next vehicle will be smaller - so I'll be back to packing in gear.

shoot, you are golden with a 4 pc unless your bass drum is 28". doesnt the rear seat fold down in the civic? back in the day, i had an '87 integra hatchback. with the kick in the front seat and seatbelted, i was able to fit a 5 pc with several cymbal stands, AND a 2x15 bass cab. rearview mirrors are overrated. that thing was like a small van with the seat down.

if the seat wont fold easily, i dunno.

Yep, I have used a civic as my gig car for a while and fits a 5 piece no bother.. Mitsubishi colt does this now instead, seeing as my civic was ribbed and crashed! :(

We used to move a 6 piece double bass kit in an Escort.

Just bring your kit to the dealership. I did that with my 4x12 once.

I used to own a used drum shop and a Honda Civic. I could get 3 5-piece kits in there.

Unfortunately I can't answer fairly, as my kit requires a tractor trailer and a bus for the road crew.

I wish.:(

the drummer for my old band used to do it with a 5 piece. don't expect to get another person in the car with you though.

I think I was wrong about not being able to fit anyone else in the car with the drums. I vaguely remember riding in the passenger seat with drums in the back.

I still have a Civic hatch. Just put the back seats down and you've got tons of space. I can fit everything in there without even blocking the rearview mirror (kick, snare, 3 toms, cymbals, stands, etc). And there's still room for someone riding shotgun.

A Civic? I dont know, I can fit my 6 piece Yamaha Stage Customs with a rack and lots of cymbals all in the trunk of my Corola though.

Last weekend me and my friends road in my friend's Corola 2 hours to downtown Savannah. There was 17 of us. = ) I was lucky enough to get to stay out of the trunk. I don't know what this has to do with fitting drums in a car but thats almost two Slipknots right there.
