When im using a mixer with only 2 inputs how would i go about micing drums. ive thought about routing the drums mics through a seperate mixer but i dont know if that would work.......im open to suggestions

Depending on what "type" of mics you have, I'd mic the bass drum, and place the other above and just behind the drummers shoulder...at about 6 foot, oops..just re read your post, I thought you were asking about mic placement...If you only have 2 imputs for drums, I'd say you'd be very limited as to what you could do.

What model mixer is this? I've never heard of a mixer with only 2 Mic channels.

Certainly you can use a drum sub-mixer and send a stereo (or mono) signal to you mixer - however, you are very limited in your tracking options (you need to track with your levels ad panning weel prepared in advance)

If your primary mixer only has 2-mic-inputs you may be better off budgeting for a bigger main mixer, rather than spending for a sub-mixer.

when i used to use a mixer for recording i had only two dynamics so wut i did was i stood them both up soulder hieght of the drumer when he's sitting and id place them behind the floor tom or inbetween the drummer and floor tom. both mics paralel to the ground. 1 of them facing stright ahead and the other turned toward the snare dum. and there panned stereo.
with tht i got a great sound.
goodluck
