hi everyone,,
i'm looking for any pointers you can give me,,,,cos i've been recording for a while now,,but only really with piano, acoustic guitar and vocals.
i think my equipment is on my signature but just incase, i have,
one behringer mx2642a (8 direct outputs)
one terratec ews88mt (same as phase 88,,8 analogue inputs)
one samson 7kit drum mic set
one marshall mxl880
one fair'n good pc (3ghz htt prescott p4 with 2gb ram etc)
two alesis m1 active markii monitors
and i use sony vegas 6.0c
the thing is, i used to be in a band and we did a pathetic home demo for our own benefit,,,then we split up,,and now we wana re do it for nostalgia basically,,,so we have to record
a pearl session pro 8 piece kit
laney 300 watt bas head with 4x10"cab and 1x15"
two marshall guitar amps,(mg100dfx and vs 8080)
now im thinkin i use mxl on hi hat,and samson kit on the rest?
for bass im gona use the samson bass mic on the 15" and one of the tom mics on a 10"
for guitar i was thinkin of using both amps (running line out from one into input of other) and mic them seperately cos i dont know which will sound best,and i can blend both.
if anyone has any suggestions about a better way to use my mics, or about what distances to place them at or anything at all,,,,please let me know,,cos this is all new to me.
