hey guys
tomorrow me and my band are recording in the local church which happens to be where we practise.
We are:
me (guitar/vocals, although im doing vocals tracks later on my pc)
guitarist
bassist
drummer

the bass and the other guitarists amp is going direct, as there are 2 d.i boxes. Which leaves us with drums and my guitar amp to worry about still.

in the way of mics, all we have available is 4 sennheiser e845s, and a shure c606. clearly not the first rate kinda stuff a lot of people are used to, but its all we have. wot i was thinking was:

drums: 1 e845 on kick, 2 overheads and the c606 on snare
guitar: 1 e845

i was thinking of putting the amp into a different room to stop the drums getting into the guitar mic. will this make much of a difference?

if anyone can think of a better way to get around this, please tell us, any suggestions welcome. god bless x

Give it a try as you state. I'm not familiar with those mics. You can try getting sounds and if you don't like what you hear, try moving stuff around. Guitar bleed will be less if the amp is in a different room; but alot of times a little guitar bleed isn't a big deal if the amp sounds better in one room vs. the other. Good luck!

you can do tht setup but i suggest using one overhead and using tht extra mic on the second guitar amp
it will also be easier to mix since there will be less phasing problems with the drum mics

Yeah, definitely try to mic both amps, rather than taking a line out, especially if you're going to have any kind of overdrive or distortion.

Line guitar = t3h suck

Line out on bass, on the other hand, is often the way to go.

thanks for the replies. got an hour to go till i have to be there so if in that hour anyone else wants to give their 2 cents, thatd be nice. thanks
