Your wisdom, sir, is impeccable and unassailable. I believe I'll install a new sign;
"DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING.
SURVIVORS WILL BE VIOLATED"
:D :D :D

is the hd24 hardrive the same IDE drive we use
in computeres, or a SCSI special one ?
I`ve heard IDE drivers are prone to damaging if *hot unplugged* while some scsi drives are more "reliable" in this way.
Anyway, that`s why you can never sit down an say you saw the stupidiest thing in your life... there will be always a worst one.
Thank god it didn`t damaged your disk interface.

You can only use EIDE Drives. 5400 rpm are the most economical drives because of the efficiency of the OS.

There is a button to puch to disable the drive before removing it. If the drive is active when you remove it, you will damage the drive. Although the HD24 is hot, the drive is not.

When I read horror stories like that, I thank God and my wife that my business model does not include recording ignorant assholes who screw with my gear. Anybody that stupid would probably try to steal my gear. Then they get abused. I would much rather record well educated professional musicians. Hardly a violinist has ever pulled the hard drive out of my recorder, or done anything else that stupid. I think you need better clientele.-Richie

Well Richie, don't believe that violinists can't do stupid things. In 1988 I was touring the US with an orchestra - each member had a batch of eight plane tickets for all the internal flights. Leader of the string section was given all theirs - after the first flight she THREW THEM ALL AWAY.

Ok, another stupid violinist story!

A couple years ago I was railed into playing the guitar parts for a theater prodution of "Evita" (I know, the idea was to get one of my advanced guitar students to do it...but it didn't work out that way).

At any rate, during our third performance... there is a solo vocal/ piano thingy, and our 1st chair violinist decides to stand up and to stretch in the pit(the audience cannot see us at all)...the violinist carefully sets their violin on the chair behind them....

Then... at the end of the vocal solo... a kickdrum cymbal crash punch hits, and the violinist SITS quickly down! Right on top of the violin... The violinist jumps up and screams on the 3 count and we all stop and stare....

I reach over and pick up what is left of her $5000-8000 violin and hand it to her. (the violinist in question happens to be a rather THICK person... in more ways than one.. if ya know what I mean)

Moral of the story: Never sit on your instrument... especially if it's a drum stick....

Man this sucks! I'm a drummer and I already get no respect. But if I was to play another instrument it would've been violin. I guess I really am stuuuuuuuuuupiiiiiiiid! :(

Oh..... but Forest Gump says "Stupid is as stupid does".....
Luckily, I've never done anything mentioned in this thread or in any drummer joke I've heard! :)

I have smacked myself in the balls with the butt of a stick while cracking the snare a coupe of times though. It happened live and holy shit!!!!!..... did I almost die. That's one time that if we were doing a Rush cover, I would've been able to do a perfect Geddy Lee imitation!
