I've realised it is a good idea for me to look into virtual drums because I will be moving into an apartment soon. I've heard nothing but great things about ezdrummer dfh and am very impressed with the clips I've heard from it.

But then I started reading about drumagog and realized how beneficial it would be to be able to actually play the drums parts (or at least some parts such as snare) instead of just programing a beat.

So I understand that drum triggering is when you use a transducer to trigger a sampled drum sound, so when you hit something (whether it be a drum pad or a pot or pan) the transducer or mic pics up the signal to trigger the sound.

So drumagog is a vst that is a drum triggering plugin that comes with samples?
What if I wanted to use my own sounds or sounds from a different library, are there any free drum triggering VSTs out there, or perhaps cheap drum triggering plugins that do not come with sampled drums?

And if I wanted to lets say trigger a snare, kick, hi-hat and another cymbal, would that mean I would need to get a soundcard with 4 analog inputs?

Thanks for the help!

Yes. You can also load up your own samples and there are other sample libraries that you can use with it.

The samples are not what makes Drumagog cost so much. It's the fact that it is the best, most comprehensive drum replacement program there is.

It's just like anything else, you will need as many inputs as you need simultaneous things recorded.

The other way to get around that is to pick up a drum module and use it as a midi converter. Drumagog will read midi as well. That way, you don't need a soundcard with multiple inputs, just a midi connection.

Drumagog has a demo. Download it. Read the manual, and then love it. All of the demos on my webpage use Drumagog, its an amazing plugin.
