Does anyone use a drum machine or drum tracks live? Right now I play my drum tracks via my iPod through my PA system and then sing and play guitar. I want to do this (as a one man band) live for shows a clubs but want to know what would be the best thing to play my drums track through at a club? Anyone do this and if so any suggestions?

I dont see the problem....but perhaps patch through a mixer for more control

iPod is fine, make sure the tracks sound good with the eq set to "Off" or "Flat", the bass boost in iPods can be really muddy. Get a stereo DI, or at least make sure you have 1/4" to plug into the house DI or PA. Showing up with no cable or just having RCAs is a bad idea.

Make sure all the track levels are reasonably the same, you have them all in a playlist, and that you can easily control the iPod. That means having a good long cable, like 6 feet, just in case, or getting a remote. Scrambling around wastes time and looks really unprofessional. You could velcro it to your music stand pretty easily, if you use one. And make sure it's charged.

Yeah, that is basicly what I do now. I have a 1/8 jack coming out of the ipod and then it going into a 1/4 cable and then that cable goes into my PA system in my practice room. I have the iPod taped to a bar stool next to me so it will not move. All the songs are the same level and EQ and any bass boost is off.

I can do it all with no problem in my practice room and want to confirm I can do it in a "real world" club situation. I also keep the iPods volume up all the way and adjust the volume on the PA so each song has the same volume.

Anyone else use recorded drum tracks live?

Would I want a Speaker cable or Instument cable going from the iPod to the PA?
