I'm a guitarist trying to record my ideas. I have a TASCAM DP-02CF and that's about all my growing studio has at the moment, other than two KRK Rokit 5's and some cheap MXL mics. I'm looking at different DAW's and what each one is specifically made for because I really need drum tracks. Which DAW software has the best (most natural) sounding drum synthesizers with the most options (for rock/metal music)?

ezdrummer is the best i have found also..

as far as DAWs go, i only realy use sonar.
this comes with session drummer 2. which has some standard patterns in it that you can lay down, and a similar interface to ezdrummer - ( doesnt sound as natural as ez, but still fairly good )

For a lower budget aproach, you could try a program i used for a long time called drumsite. http://www.guitar.sk/drums/drums_main.htm

you cant pull this in as a softsynth though. you need to create the midi file first, then open the midi file in drumsite, and run it through. - its a bit of a pain sometimes, as if you want to make a smal change, you have to run the whole file through again.

If you can aford it, go for ezdrummer hands down.
You could also try the drum kit from hell expansion kit for it.

Sion.

I wouldn't rely on DAWs or drum synthesizers for ...er...humph "natural" sounding drums. I would get drum samplers or sample libraries, such as BFD, Drumkit From Hell, Addiktive Drums or somesuch.

Or get yourself a sampler such as Battery or Kontakt and purchase a drum sample library.
