Hey. I was wondering if anyone knew how to use your kick and snare tracks to trigger midi for sound replacement. I have some really good samples and some times the kids i record just ain't hittin the drums right man!
I had a look at the midi gate but from what i can see it only accepts midi to pass through audio and dosn't output midi.

don't use any samples. perhaps hearing his inconsistent performance will motivate the drummer to practice and become better.

Unfortunately, getting a better drummer isn't always a possibility. So...

Assuming that you have some sort of VST host, you can use the KTDrum Trigger. You run your audio through it, set the filters appropriately, and it spits out MIDI data accordingly. It's surprisingly tweak-able for a free product. It should do the trick for you.
