drum question

I recently purchase these mics ( AT2041SP Studio Pack) and was told if I had to, or wanted to try I could record drums with these. Could someone give me some advice as i am as new as can be on mic placement.

Put the LDC 3 feet in front of the kit about snare height. Put the SDC over the drummers head.

Front to back- Would you tend to pan these?

Nope. The front one will need to be compressed. The other one is an overhead. This is a mono setup. If you want stereo, you need another SDC for an overhead. I would put one SDC over the hat (6-7 feet in the air) and one over the ride (or floor tom, depending on the setup) equidistant from the snare.

With one overhead, you will have mono.
