Thanks trak!

Just downloaded it...I give it a go!

What amazes me are the folks who do all this programming for freeware. I guess they just do it for artistic pleasure???

I always wondered about that. They don't even ask for an email for spamming...which i think is very cool.

I think the deal with HammerHead is that is hasn't been developed in like four years. Plus, IIRC, the programmer got hired by Steinberg.

Free is always good and I can sequence in Logic!

I hate to spend $140 on Battery if I don't need to...

You can't control Hammerhead with Logic, you have to use the internal step sequencer. If you want to use Logic to sequence, check out FXpansions DR-005 or the SR-202 from Computer Music magazine, two free drum samplers. I believe LinPlug also offers a freebie drum sampler, the Gakstoar Alpha, and Steinberg's LM-9 may be available for free as well.

Thanks j....

I don't really need it to be free but money is a bit tight so...:D

I'll check that out. In the end I'll buy what is easiest to use and sounds the best.

BTW...

Anyone thinking about Algorhythm... DON'T!!

I've been emailing them for a MONTH with NO replies!!

My last email I told them they lost my sale...

Anyone who can't answer a simple email doesn't get my money.

Hell - what if I had a problem? No support.

But I think that using a sequencer like Sonar with Battery, or another good drum sampler, is going to get you a lot farther than FL will.
I didn't realize I was doing it wrong all this time. I use Battery with FruityLoops all the time. Didn't realize I needed a "real" sequencer.

Maybe some day....

I will quit being so impatient!

I got an apologetic email from the algorhythm programmer today. He even gave me a free license!

He explained he was involved with multiple projects...

Now I feel like an idiot.

Thanks for the links to more drum samples...

Cool!

Trying to get a handle on all this:

So with fruityloops you can make up a loop, but you have to find the samples somewhere? ...I know it comes with *some* samples.

With full blown multitracker audio/midi sequencer(Cakewalk, Logic etc) you could do the same thing but I guess you'd have to do midi to a sound module or softsynth/sampler because there's no easy way to point to individual samples?

Can fruityloops do anything with existing loops, like chop 'em up into individual slices, similar to what Recycle does?

Does this scenario make sense:
Get wav loop from somewhere, but your're not interested in loop, just the hits. Chop it up into indivual hits with recycle. Import samples into Fruityloops and make totally new, completely different wav loop. Export into multitracker, in my case, Logic.

Now how 'bout this one:
Same as above, except, Logic imports rex(recycle) files, and you can sequence with it; so you could cut out the fruityloops all together, right?

I know fl has a beatslicer, I've never used it though. I've used a couple of samples that come with it. Most don't really fit my needs since I want a more "natural" drum sound. I've downloaded lots of free samples though and made a couple as well.

I'm not gonna be able to get a good drum module for some time, so I'm with fl till then.
