Sometimes, when used as overheads, the Takstars sound very metallic, harsh, and almost like the signal has been MP3 compressed. I'd definitely not buy them again.

I could get a pair of Joemeek JM27's with shock mounts for under $100...
I also came across a pair of "STAGG CM-5050"
I've never heard of them, but it comes with two boom stands and it costs just as much as the Joemeeks. Are these Staggs any good?

I try to avoid commenting on my own mics at all here, so please don't have that expectation. You can always try the email link on my site 
However, I feel I need to clarify something regarding the various versions I have produced. In 2006, nearly all the mics I produced were MSH-1A or 1Os. Both of those were higher SPL handling than the MSH-1s I produce in 2007. The 1A was about 114dBSPL, and the 1O was 122dBSPL. The current MSH-1 is 108dBSPL. There were also a handful of 1s and 1Ms in 2006 that are essentially identical to the 2007 MSH-1. The MSH-2 replaced the MSH-1O as a high SPL mic.
I don't know what version everybody posting on this thread has. Harvey has 1Os. If you are not sure, look at the pins. If they are chrome, it's a 1A or 1O. If they are gold, it's a 1 or 1M.
