I want a good drum module with a bunch of sounds. I was looking at the Alesis DM5, but that thing has 12 inputs, and i think thats whats driving up the price, i really only need like 3 inputs, 5 max. Can you think of any modules with a bunch of sounds but only a few inputs?

I don't think that they make any with that few. There's no point in making one like that. Sorry. :o :)

hmmm...well thanks. is there any way i could hook a drum trigger up to my computer(laptop for shows) and have a program in there that plays whatever sound i want when i hit it? like is there a USB interface for drum triggers? and a program that takes the place of a drum module?

Have you looked at the cost of Drum Modules? The DM5 is essentially the cheapest one out there. The Trigger inputs are pretty much the least expensive part of the unit. We're talking about $30 max for the entire Trigger input section.

Your best bet is to hit up E-bay, and buy a used DM5.
Although personally - I think the DM5 is a piece of junk. It has crappy "dance" drum sounds, and it's really limited in it's scope. I owned 2 of them at the same time (I was trying to makeup for the slow Trigger to MIDI Interface conversion, by having one for the kicks and the other for the snare & toms. But it still didn't help.

If you want my honest opinion (I'm going to give it to you anyway :D) save your money and get a Roland or a ddrum unit....or if you can find one, a Boom Theory Space Muffins 0.0 module, which is one of the best units available.
