I am somewhat new at recording, and would like to get a good set of drum mics. I was mostly looking at putting a set of four together, snare, bass, two overheads. I was wanting to keep it as cheap as possible, but not necessarily cheap. I want a good sounding mix. It will be mainly for a five piece set with hi hat, two crashes, and a ride. The only mic I have right now is a Shure PG-57. I have borrowed mics in the past, but need my own set. Thanks for your help in advance.

Audio Technica ATM25 for kick
pair of MXL 603s or Oktava MK012s if you can find them, for overheads
Shure SM57 or Sennheiser e835 for snare

Lately, I've been using AKG c418s on toms, AKG 452s on OH, D112 on kick, and vary between a 57, GT AM52 and a c418 on snare.

Studio Projects C4's Overheads - 320
SM57 Snare - 90
Audix D6 Kick - 200

That's 610 bucks, but the mics you get are amazing. The C4's work great on acoustic guitar in stereo as well as guitar amps etc. SM57 is infamous and can be used for tons of things. Then the Audix D6 is just a great sounding mic. I know it is the one I want. That will be my setup at least. Still gotta save up for the C4s and D6 right now though.
