Im about to buy a mic pack and before I do, I wanted to know if this was a decent setup.
My main concern is for live shows rather than home recording etc..

It is a Shure PGDMK4XLR ( PGDMK4 PG-4 PG-DMK4 ) Drum Mic Pack

The kit includes (3) PG56 Dynamic instrument/drum mics, (1) PG52 kick drum / bass instrument mic, (3) A50D drum mic mounts

The price im getting it for is $200, but I was wondering, price aside, if this is a decent mic setup for a live show.

Thanks in advance for all suggestions/opinions

It's OK for live, but I wouldn't plan on using it for recording.

I really don't like mic kits myself.

I'd hit eBay, find a used Audix D6, and look for the GLS knock-offs of Shure SM-57's, they are supposed to be close enough.

Pro Tip: Guitar Center will sell a brand new D-6 for about $150 if you insist, I think fullcompass.com will do about the same if you just ask for their best price on the phone.

The ATM-25 is also great for the kick, but will require more care in placement to get a good sound.

you can also get quite a bit of the price knocked off of 1 of the audix packs if you try hard enough...i got the dp-5a set(d6, 2 d2's, d4, and i5 w/ rim mounts) for $500

Superlux FK-2 lays waiste to the PG52 IMHO. For $35 I have yet to hear a mic that can hold up with it until the $200 range.

Still love this mic!!

Unfinished samples on request!
