What is a good drum mic kit to buy for recording drums that is affordable but will still sound great? I have looked at a lot of sets but I want to hear from people who have had experience with them.

I wouldnt go with a kit at all.....
Id go with a pair of Marshall MXL603's or Behringer ECM8000's on overheads....a shure sm57 on snare....an AT ATM25 Pro on kick......
if ya wanna mic the toms, 2 or 3 Radio Shack 33-3032's........
