I'm looking for a good drum machine in the $100-$200 range. I'm thinking about getting a used Boss Dr. Rhythm 660. Anyone have any suggestions?

I think Harmony Central might have some user reviews on this.

I have a Zoom 123, and like it a lot. It's very compact, and has very nice tone.

I got it to upgrade my Alesis sr-16, and the Zoom was a big improvement.

I agree with GT. I hear a lot of bad stuff about Zoom all the time, but the 123 and its big brother ...234 actually sounds really good for that kinda money. We spent a couple of hours programming the crap out of a ...234 and it held up amazingly well. I then played around with the 123 in a music store and the sounds are very similar if not the same.

There's a new one out now i think, 323 or somthing. I saw a picture and it has a way better display and most certainly a bunch of other new stuff. Haven't heard it yet, though.

The only thing i had a problem with was there're only two outputs. You can get around that if you're a bit patient, but it's a bit time consuming.

I just got my first Zoom product ! It's a Zoom 123 and like the rest of the guys said. It's a great drum machine sound-wise.

GT, I'm glad you think its an upgrade from the famous SR-16 because I think so too. I just didn't dare to post abt my opinion for the fear of being maimed by anti-zoomies. Thanks cos now I'm braver!
