Hey there, drummer folks. I don't get here to the drum section often since I'm a session guitarist, but I'm wondering if anyone here knows the drum machines out there. I've played drums for many years as a second instrument (nothing more relaxing for me), but I no longer have any room for a drum kit, electronic or otherwise, in my small home studio (Yamaha aw16g-based, no other computer there).
I'm looking for a budget machine (hardware) that will at least offer me the chance to program by using my feet for the hi-hat and bass pedal. Anyone know of a machine that allows this? I've heard that Roland's 880 does, but it's $400-500. Someone I know suggested the Roland 770, a bit cheaper, but I believe that one of its two pedal inputs is only for on/off.
I'd appreciate any suggestions... besides buying a complete kit, unfortunately.
Is there any drum machine out there that I can at least approach, in a general way, like an actual set of drums when programming?
Thanks for any insight,
J.
