drum machine/sampler

hello everyone, hoping someone can help me with buying a drum machine(maybe a different name). the drum machine will be used for producing dance beats, techno etc and also for some live stuff like beats in the church etc. i have stumbled on 3 models
Budget = 300 can go to max 320 or so.

Electribes are kool!!!
Haven't played with the Roland SP-303.
My fav Drum machine for tech stuff is still the Alesis SR-16. It's tried and true. Not super intuitive for live use compared to the Electribes, but managable none-the-less.

My recommendation would be to go with the Electribe R MKII, just because it's the most modern sounding and the most flexible as far as editing goes. The Electribe A series is not an actual drum machine - it's a synth that looks like a drum machine.

Thanks for the suggestions, i suppose i will be going for Electribe R MKII, i was confused as of why 2 different devices are of same price and the company doesnt bother to mention changes in them. Thanks again for the answer.

Thanks, Roland is quite a nice name but SP-303 looks like a toy. i looked at alesis sr-16 and i might buy it after i get my hands on Elektribe. need to wait for paycheck

Also today at work in the room full of synthesizers i came across Roland TR-808 and Roland TR-707, they are old i guess but i heard they were quite popular in their time. i am going to see if i can get them home from work to play around with, boss is generally nice at times . also i am gonna go for a elektribe R MKII. does anyone knows anything more about These 2 roland devices i would love to read about them.

a friend of mine came over with an AKAI mpc 2000 XL,
connected to a zipdrive (100MB) AND a cdrom

this thing amazed me, it takes real long to load a song but he played real fat tunes with it, but i know another guy who has it and he doesn't really know how it works, and without the zips and cdrom you don't have decent options,

if you have the money, then it would be cool to add this sampler to your rig,
you can even make your own akai sample cds with loops and one shots,
pretty nice

it would be nice to get something top of the range but the pocket doesnt allows for one right now. i might get one later down the road but starting of this elektribe RMKII. Thanks for the suggestions and answers everyone.Appreciate it.
