I'll be acquiring a drum machine within the next few months. Unfortunately, I know nothing about them. :o

I know that the Boss DR-880 is well-regarded, but it may be more than I need. It has a little brother, the DR-670, that seems to be fairly full-featured. (Less polyphony, fewer drum kits, and fewer patterns than the DR-880, but otherwise seems very similar - is this correct?)

Do you gents have any recommendations for either of the Boss units, or for any other brand? I have a modest home studio and am looking for something more useable than the tone generator in my TASCAM 2488.

Thanks!

There's a lot to choose from if all you need is a simple drum machine.

Alesis SR16, BOSS dr660,dr670,dr770,dr880, etc.

It really alll depends on how many features you want...they are all pretty similar IMO.....they just progress in complexity and features.

The SR-16 has been an good stand-by for years, and you will find that some people say it's the best.

I own a Dr-660 and its very simple to use, even without the manual; Roland/BOSS provides TurboStart guides for most of their products anyway.

Other options include an AKAI workstation, or a a KORG electribe setup. $$$$

A Zoom RT-123 is a pretty good drum machine.
And I just happen to have one for sale!

Let me know if you're interested. :D
