OK - pics!

Here it is from the front. The room is so small I can't get a good panoramic shot:

Here's a shot of the left side, from the drummer's perspective, sorta - the little tom is not part of the set - I had it lying around:

here's the floor tom:

and here's the kit from way overhead:

I've tried recording some more in the room, and it's a disaster - I put a thick wool rug under the kit, and that helped some, but the LF standing waves are so bad that I think I have to wait until I can claim a better room before recording (and that will also give me the chance to learn how to play...)

Killer - nice drums!

Most of the time it takes awhile to get a new set tweaked just right. Like musicians, sometimes a particular drum won't sound all that great when you take the rest of the band away, so judge them in songs if you can.

Car wax (I like Mequire's Cleaner Wax) works great on the lugs and stands. If you do it before they rust, and then every year, the drums will look great forever.

I like the Sabian, too - I just recorded with MK-012 overheads and hit the Sabian, and it sounds great. I took the money I "saved" by going with the used kit and got that cymbal, that Istanbul Emperor ride, and the Paiste 2002 crash - mainly because they had them used at the store and they sounded alright to me, even though my ears need a lot more training on cymbals.

It might take awhile, after all you're only 4. :)

Nice ecclectic mix of cymbals. I'm personally very fond of my 2002s.

I don't like using just Sabian or Just Zildjians. So what you're doing is what i do too. Nice collection.
