For me, I never had any luck with anything other than live drums, so I bought a drum set, learned how to play it, learned how to mic it, and am relatively happy with the results.

I have seen 1 person in my entire life be able to make sampled drums sound human-like and dynamic, and it takes him forever to build tracks.


What kind of music are you playing?

I would not recommend salmonella for drums. You might be swayed by the way it seems to liquify transients and its fast, fluid runs. However, in the morning, you will be left aching and drained.
