Hey, I finally got the funding to build my drum booth.

It is in the smallest space ever - about 2.1/2.1/2.4 l/w/h

This space is within a larger room if you can picture and there is no way of getting a bigger space.

My main question is any ideas for the materials on the inner walls??

I was gonna use ply and have hooks on for some kind of dampening board say cork or something.

Also the celiling as well.

I would really appreciate any help.

Are you wanting to "deaden" or "liven" the space?

you said - "This space is within a larger room if you can picture and there is no way of getting a bigger space."

So, do you already have a room within a room [OR] you are going to build a room within a room?

I assume your measurements are metric. So you've got roughly 6' X 6' with 7' ceiling height. That's awfully small for a drum booth. Automatically you need to make sure your door swings out instead of in. Mic stands around the kit will be a difficulty. Wall mounting may save you space there.

ANYWAY - to answer your question... It depends on what your desire for the room is. Do you want it dead or alive?

Wouldn't liven it. Too small to give any beinifits. To deaden, use 2" rigid fiberglass all over, and in the corners double or treble it up. Cover it all with material to stop the fibers flying around the room.

hey thanks for the advice.

I was gonna wall mount the over head stands using magic arm mic stands that they use on film/TV.
I was wanting the room to be as flexible as possible - thats why I was suggesting wooden walls with the possibility of hanging 'dampening' materials.

The ceiling is 8ft but i could go to 9 1/2 - would this help??

Thanks

I would keep the drums in the big room and call that a vocal or amp booth.

I'm with Tex

I totally agree with Tex - drums in the bigger room. Also, I think the higher you can get the ceiling the better - so go for the 9 1/2 foot ceiling if you can. Cheers, Rez
