Nobody's gonna wanna make that pair of gloves? now that's classic...my wife's little dog "fender" is going crazy while listening to this I think he smells a cat somewhere Doc, this is different and I always like different! keep posting them MP3's Doc, and we all want to hear them vocals as well...

Well Doc, what can I say? Wierd sh*t as usual. :)

I dig the vocals. Very Zappa. Good voice actually, are you planning on any real singing sometime? I think you'd pull it off really well.

Slackmaster 2000

Three thumbs up!!!
I like it. I thought I posted a review of it here but it is gone now... Great voice.

Most excellent doc! Reminds me more of early Syd Barrett ("Opel" "The Madcapp laughs")than strictly Zappa- a little more morose than Zappa. I listened to it four times now- I want more!!!

Whooooo. That is cool stuff Doc. And you said my Mister Chamelion song was way too weird?

Addicting sort of. You have to listen lots of times to hear all the stuff that is going on. And I like your voice. I would like to hear you sing some other stuff too.

Tucci

Thanks Tucci. I just relistened to your Mr. Chameleon tune. I'll stick with my original appraisal. But I will admit that this is a
case of the pot calling the kettle black. :)

Hey - sorry to be so behind the times - I avoid MP3 usually.

People talk about it sounding like Zappa... I don't know. It sounds like someone who was raised on Zappa and Beefheart, but mostly it sounds like you, probably because I've been listening to your stuff for a while. I'd like to hear more vocals in what you do - it works, and adds to it. I reckon something like track 5 on Chicken's Good Cold, Too should be as is, no vocals - it's complex and mutates. But you do loads of stuff like this cut, where the music could provide a wonderful setting for voice.

I agree with the comment that the out of sync vocals work well.

Anyway, I put it to the test - I can dance to it... an angular step that moves gingerly around certain parts of the floor - danse macabre, I guess.

I played it for my wife. She listened a while, and then eyes wide said: "It's about dead cats! Doesn't he like cats?" Understanding is a virtue hard to come by.

Thanks for checking it out, Dobro. It's on my latest CD, BTW.....
But thank you most for finally convincing me to upgrade my front end situation. There's gonna be some changes. I got a dbx 386 stereo tube mic pre-amp (S/PDIF out to my Gina) and an NT-1. I think I'll get another NT-1 for the other channel tomorrow. I'm really impressed with that mic. I'm mostly excited about the challenge of using the available sensitivity best to my advantage. It just adds that "air" that adds a whole lot of realism to a recording of any instrument.
Which is what started this whole chain of events today.
My bro lent me his classic Gibson ES-5, just back from the shop where it was dialed in to perfection. This piece of wood cost $5K so I didn't mind buying a decent mic to record it.
And to clarify for the little woman:
I love cats. Especially my cats.
Megabite and her daughter TCP.
In fact I sleep with TCP!
We don't fool around or anything.
She just wants to cuddle.

Damn...thas cool...I love it.

Everyone in the room is saying "Woah..what is this? This is weird!"

Doc,
I too would score it a '10' for originality. I don't understand the reluctance to do vocals, sounded really good to me as did the overall recording!
