Sometimes in fact more often than I would like, as i am recording a track, the sound will wrop out. for instance, a chord might just cut off while being sustained. Or, at times, when I strike the chord, it will come in at full volume then immediatle drop out. I do not know what causes this. I ams using a G4 with Digital perfomer 3.0. the G4 is a 733 with 256 ram and a MOTU 2408 MKII. I am aware that a bit more ram, or even alot more ram, would be nice, but, with reference to this immediate problem, I don't think I need more ram to get basic tracks down without some of the chords dissapearing. the effect is as if a switch has been thrown, it is not a gradual fade but an immediate cut off sort of like a popping out of the sound (for the sake of a description). I have speclated that this may be somehow connected to a power lapse and that possibly a line conditioner would solve this problem. I have one on the system but it is veery old and does not do much.

Can anyone advise of a solution to this annoying problem?

Surely there are tips on the MOTU website about adjusting the device's buffers and such. Have you checked there?
