alright guys.
as anyone who owns one of these babies is aware, they are hiss city. trying to record one is a nightmare. anyone got any suggestions as to how to make it sound better? i put it through a compressor and limiter with the mid turned down on the mixer and yet it still manages to produce hiss.
what can i do, i am in danger of smashing to bits.

Cheers

Got it! Use it! Luv it!. I very rarely come upon any hiss
problems especially when using the onboard effects. I st the volume on the DR202 @ no more than 30db (or at the 12-o-clock pos on the volume).I heavily compress thru my Behringer Auto-Com and gate @ +10(remember,these are "canned" drums). No EQ tweaking necessary, with the exception of boosting the bass on the kick drum and rolling off frequencies @ 75hz. I rarely use the cut-off and resonance features as incorporating them on certain kits
introduces some hiss and a "robotic" tone effect. my DR202
is patched directly in my board, with the Auto-Com patched thru my boards insert.
Like I said previously,I rarely encounter any discernible hiss due to the fact I heavily gate this bad-boy and use a
"Slow" Attack and a "Quick" Release with a ratio of .1 .
It's a wierd compressor configuration, but damn it sounds good to me!
Peace
