Hey There,

Long story short - I'm a technophobe who has one of these as a gift and would really like to use it.
I can record and play back but now I would like to transfer it to a computer so that I can burn to CD and/or send as MP3.
I downloaded Audacity software on to my computer and I can send stuff to Audacity but when I play it back thru Audacity 2 things have happened.
1) - once it played back really fast, sounded like the chipmunks...
2) - several things have downloaded different tracks sequentially..so track 1 will play thru, then track 2, etc.

Should I
a) - keep working with Audacity even though it does not seem to be working (for me)?
b) - is there another software program that is idiot-proof, to where anyone can use it?

Thanks,

There are no programs that are idiot proof.

There are programs that are much better than Audacity, although if all you want to do is render a mastered track as an MP3, then it's fine. But the sound of it you're not doing that are you? You want to mix on the computer?

In which case, get proper DAW software - Reaper is a good start - free to download so you can get a feel for whether you can use it or not - if you like it, pony up $60.

Become less of a technophobe, is the answer. Programs do what you tell them to do. So you need to work out how to tell them to do the right things. That stands for whether you're using Audacity or anything else. What helps is a user-centred interface so it's not so hard to work out. I can't stand Audacity's interface, but it's useful for some stuff. Usability? Absolute crap IMHO. Try Reaper. You've nothing to lose... people round here swear by it.

There are many other alternatives BTW. Research around...

You're right - I do need to less technophobic....soon I won't be able to buy groceries!

I'll play with it some more and check out Reaper.
