DP-02 as trigger for EZ Drummer on PC?

My experience with MIDI is very little. I use EZ Drummer in Acid pro for it's ease of use via drag and drop into a MIDI track.

I just got a DP-02 and I want to try using the MIDI out to trigger drum tracks on my PC. Can my recorder trigger MIDI via the play and record buttons? Does anyone use their DP-02 to do this?

I Am hoping all this is in the manual but I'd like to hear from others who are more versed in MIDI and who may have experience doing this with their set up.

Thanks in advance.

I finally got to trying this out last night. On the Tascam end of it there really isn't anything to set up. There's only three options to choose and one of them is 'off'. Quite simple really. I expected it be a little more of challenge.

The software end is a different story though. It appears to me now, the issue I have is software specific. I'll take this matter to a proper forum now.

Sorry man, I'm pretty familiar with the DP-02 itself, but not with anything MIDI related. I'm not sure if there is a way to trigger from the DP-02 itself, unless the metronome is set to MIDI and you have the computer set up to handle the rest. That's just a rough guess and about all I know about MIDI.:D

According to the manual it says the DP-02 MIDI out can be used to trigger external devices such as a drum machine. I assume this means it can be used to trigger a MIDI track on my PC as well.

The MIDI set up according to the help file in ACID Pro 7 is extremely unintuitive. Since I don't plan in doing any non-MIDI recording on the PC anymore I think I'll start looking for a dedicated MIDI app.

I think Sonar is supposed to have some excellent MIDI capabilities. It was pretty easy to get Sonar to work with my drum machine, but putting the DP-02 in the middle of it is beyond my knowledge.

I Am looking to make my PC the drum machine. The only thing in the middle is me.

Thanks for the Sonar suggestion. I think I'll go chat up the Cakewalk forums.
