I'm not happy with the patches (pre-recorded instrument sounds) on my DGX-505 Yamaha. There's a sound card slot on the keyboard, and the keyboard is connected to my computer via USB.

1. Can I download patches from the internet into the keyboard?

2. Can I buy a sound card with patches and upload it onto the keyboard? If so, will this overwrite the existing patches?

The manual doesn't seem to go into much detail.

Thanks.

I doubt it. It's not a synth, the patches dont appear to be editable from what I read.

Its a smartmedia slot. Basically, think of it as a player piano: you can save songs or buy songs and the keyboard will play them.

Thanks David.

I once paid to have a song recorded in a home studio, and this person had a box that he plugged into his computer, I think, which had all sorts of patches on it. The sounds were very realistic. My Yamaha retails for about AU$1,200, so I wouldn't expect any top of the range patches. I'll have to try and find one of those "boxes" I suppose. Thanks for your help.
