downloading drivers

This may be a retarded question, but I assumed I would only need the very latest driver and not need to download all released drivers, but I'm still having latency problems with my M-Audio Delta 1010lt card. My computer is pretty fast so I don't know why I keep getting clicks and pops when playing back audio. I only downloaded the latest version, but didn't notice much of a difference.

Currently there are 3 drivers available, but I would assume I only need the most recent one, (May 4 05), right?

what software program are you using?
generally latency issues don't have to do with drivers but rather buffer settings in the program

I own project 5, but it seems to run best on that whereas it has a lot of trouble on my Reason and FruityLoops demo. Also before anybody says anything, it's not the computer I'm using now. I don't have it connected to the internet anymore and have run some spyware programs so it should be pretty clean.
