Doubts: SM57 for live/record: man vocals/contrabass

Some doubts:

1 -. Can I record with sm57 through a guitar multieffects to use the stompboxes and modelling to get effects and colours in sound ????

2 -. Everyone says sm57 is a mic that everyone "must have" ... Maybe you recommend me a condenser mic, but I only use it with usb plug, no XLR ( for phantom ), so if you dont think sm57 is a great mic for man vocal and contrabss live and recording... what usb condenser mic could you recommend me ?

3 -. Maybe sm58 is better for lows??

I DONT LOOK FOR PRO MIC, BUT I WANT QUALITY AND A MIC "FOR ALL" SO I WANT THE MOST VERSATILE.

I would go with the 57... I think that the 57 is a more versatile mic than the 58.
