I have tried many times VERY unsuccesfully to mix in a second vocal track with the first with a persons own voice...any suggestions how to get this to sound full and rich as opposed to robotic and nasty?

What types of mics are you using, what are you recording onto?

I am using CEP2, Studio Projects B3 mic, and presonus firestation.

Turn the second track down. If you are just trying to beef up the lead vocal then the backing double only needs to be at about 30-50% of the volume of the first.

If you are doing backing harmonies than do several tracks and let them sound a bit artificial. That's the reason for doubling.

Are you using compression? That is the key to a rich and thick vocal tone.
