Hey guys, mostly a newb here, been reading this forum a few days now, think ive got things figured out.
For starters, its just me thats going to be recorded. The things that i will be recording will be me on a small yamaha drum machine, me on a guitar through a multi effects box, me on a bass through a multi effects box, and me on a mic (somehow). Aside from the vocal mic, there will be nothing but straight line in/outs.
So... From what i glean here, i oughtta be able to pick up a delta44 and run everything into that, right? then grab something like protools, or maybe even ntracks, and be set. The only thing im not clear on is mic stuff, the delta only looks to have 1/4 inch inputs, how the hell do i get an xlr into there?
Ive got a dual core athlon64 @ 2.2ghz with a gig of ram and a 7200rpm drive, so im pretty sure the pc will be able to handle things. I dont really want ultra high fidelity, just to eek out stuff whenever i feel like.
Would it be worth it to get a delta44 along with a cheap external mixer with phantom power for its xlrs, and run just one line out from that to the pc?
