Well, it would sound a little out of place in certain kinds of music, but hey - play what you want. As far as being hard to learn, I don't think it's any more difficult than learning how to do anything else on a drum kit. If you can play, you can play. Just a matter of practice, unless you have an especially uncoordinated left foot for some reason (or right foot, as the case may be).
