Dorm room

I'm trying to set up a mini studio in my dorm room, I was wondering what the best way to do this was. I was thinking of recording into my closet b/c the clothes would absorb the sound, and wouldn't reflect. I'm using an M box and an AKG C2000 mic. I'm mainly doing voice over stuff. Suggestions?
 
recording vocals?.. singing into the closet should work ok
recording acoustic guitars? you might want some extra verb.... get a long cable and run it into the stair well (and record at varying distances to get a good verb)
electric guitar?.. shouldnt matter too much.. put it pretty close

Voice Over. Yes, the closet should work fine for absorbtion and maybe even diminish the sounds of your neighbors some if you're lucky. I just hope it's bigger than the closet I had in the dorm. Is there a light in there? Go to Bed Bath and Beyond or Linen's and things and get one of those battery powered stick up lights. They're cheap, incandescent, and will stick almost anywhere.

If that doesn't work you could build a VO Box but I'm betting the closet will work out better.

Hey now that's thinking inside the... aw nevermind! :D

Mount it on an adjustable stand and I think you've invented the gobo voice-over box.

Thanks, wish I could take credit for it. It's actually something Douglas Spotted Eagle came up with, and then Harlan Hogan and Jeffrey Fisher wrote about it in a book I read. So I built one. It tames reflections around the mic pretty well. Between it, my notebook, mic, and firebox I've got a sweet little "vacation setup."
